Ngorongoro crater is a famous destination for all lovers of safari. It is a place that offers unrivaled beauty. You have an opportunity to see a beautiful landscape, interact with traditional communities, see wild animals, visit an archaeological site and best of all see the worlds largest volcanic caldera that is still intact. Ngorongoro crater is situated in the northern part of Tanzania. It lies 120 miles (192 kilometers) west of Arusha.

How to Access Ngorongoro conservation area. There are several options that you can use to get to the crater. For tourists flying in from abroad, they can land at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha airport. These two airports are only 34 miles (55 kilometers) apart. Flying directly to Arusha is cheaper because it is nearer to the Ngorongoro crater. From Arusha airport, tourists can take another flight to Lake Manyara airstrip that is 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the crater. From lake Manyara, they will board a tour vehicle to take them to the crater. Driving from lake Manyara to the crater takes about two hours but it may take longer if you have to make stops along the way. Another option is to land in Arusha airport and take a tour vehicle from there directly to the crater. This way, you will enjoy the scenery of the local Maasai tribe settlements. The ride takes you through lake Manyara for about four hours. Better still you can book a cheap flight to Jomo Kenyatta International airport in Nairobi in Kenya and take a shuttle to Arusha.

The riches of Ngorongoro conservation area. The treat of visiting Ngorongoro crater begins with beautiful scenery in the area. The great rift valley has shaped the land into mountains and valleys that are covered in grasslands and plains. Along the way you meet the Maasai community that settle in small structured houses locally known as manyatta. The area offers you a lifetime opportunity to see the big five in their natural habitat.

There are black rhinos, elephants, prides of lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, buffaloes, zebras, cheetahs, wildebeests, Thompson's Gazelles and many other small animals like foxes and Jackals. You will watch predators hunt their prey and their wild interactions. The easiest animals to spot are the black rhinos and elephants while cheetahs are hardest to spot. The area also boasts of about 400 different bird species including ostriches and flamingos. Olduvai Gorge is an ancient archaeological site dating back to 2.5 million years ago where you get an opportunity to learn man's early adventures in this savanna.

Activities to Enjoy during the safari tour Apart from the game drive within the conservation area, tourists can engage in picnic sports at specified picnic sites, visit the Masai community in their villages and hike. Tourists are not allowed to come out of their vehicles during the safari game drive. There are two weather seasons in the region; the rainy season between November and April and the dry season between May and October. Ngorongoro crater visits are open from 6 am to 6 pm daily with licenses of a morning visit or an afternoon visit.


Day 1

Arusha -Tarangire
Meeting at the airport or hotel in Arusha by the representative of our company. Departure to Tarangire National Park. Full day safaris with a picnic lunch. After safari accommodation in the selected lodge on the basis of a full board. Dinner and overnight.

Tarangire National Park has a diverse landscape with nine zones vegetation. Ancient giant baobabs and acacias dot the landscape picturesque savannah. Here live all five representatives of the Big African Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses. Tarangire is known for the largest population of elephants in Tanzania. You will be able to see the herd in several dozens of individuals at a time. During lunch on the bank of the Tarangire River you will have a chance to watch theherds of antelopes, zebras, gazelles and many others gather at the water source.

Day 2

Tarangire-Crater Ngorongoro
Early rise at about 6.00. After breakfast, you will go to the cool areas of the Ngorongoro Highlands. Morning safari on the crater with a visit to the village of the Masai tribe. Break for lunch on the shore of a picturesque lake. At the end of the safari return to Arusha. Transfer to the hotel or airport.
